Sewing classes
Learn, Create, Support
You will learn how to use a sewing machine, practice the basic stitches, and go home with something you made yourself out of local fabric. No experience needed, and everything is provided.
The classes are run by the women who make everything sold in our shop. What you pay stays here: it pays their wages and supports our school, Treak Community Centre.

Tell us on the day which one you would like. We will show you how. Options are:

Families
Families are welcome. Our options include some simpler items so children can also join in the fun of making something with their parents.
How the class works

We meet at Treak Community Centre and walk over to the sewing workshop together

We'll then show you: how the machine works; how to thread it; and the stitch selection you will use

Then you sew, with somebody beside you the whole time

We'll take a break in the middle with tea, coffee and biscuits

At the end we'll walk over to Laura's Dream, our shop, where you can browse through some of the items made in our workshop.
The schedule

Duration: three hours

Times: 8.00 to 11.00am, or 1.00 to 4.00pm

Price: $25 per person, all materials included

Two things we ask
Please do not photograph the children at the school. Their families have not agreed to it, and we protect that. Everything else is yours to photograph.
Please do not give money or presents directly to a child. If you would like to help, please talk to the head teacher.
